Chamberfest Cheboygan serial: Rachel Cheung in concert

Pianist Rachel Cheung is hailed as "a poet, but also a dramatist" displaying "the most sophisticated and compelling music-making" (The Dallas Forenoon News). She won over audiences and critics alike as a finalist at the 2017 Van Cliburn International Pianoforte Competition with "stunningly imaginative" (Musical America) interpretations marked past "flights of both beauty and virtuosity" (Theater Jones) and was awarded the Audition Prize by online vote. As well a Young Steinway Artist, she continues to build a reputation for an elegant stage presence, giving sensitive and refined performances across three continents.

Rivertown Follies

Get set up for the return of this Cheboygan community theater classic! The Follies offers a madcap cast engaged in sketch one-act, song & trip the light fantastic sure to entertain audiences of all ages. All gain are donated to Cheboygan area charities

This is the first performance by the theater group in three years, following cancelations due to COVID-19.

Tickets tin be purchased for these performances in advance at $xiv each, or $xv at the door, with a $one Opera Firm treatment fee. The Sunday matinee performance will have a special senior denizen only pricing of $12 per ticket.

ABCDuo: "Cantos por la Vida"

Bruce Cain and David Asbury (ABCDuo) have collaborated for more than than ii decades on concerts of Fine art Songs for vox and guitar. Since 2011, the duo has been commissioning and performing new works in English and Castilian by composers from across the Usa and across. On May fourteen, the duo volition present a program entitledCantos Por La Vida, consisting of more often than not new works for vocalism and guitar that are environmentally themed, and have been written peculiarly for them.

Both Cain and Asbury are faculty members at Southwestern University where they met and began performing together in 1998. Together, the duo has performed concerts at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., and in notable venues in Australia, Canada, Denmark, Federal republic of germany, Morocco, and Sweden, and across the Us. Asbury serves as the principal guitar teacher at Southwestern University, and Cain, in addition to his duties every bit principal voice teacher, serves as department chair, and as the conductor of the San Gabriel Chorale.

Missoula Children's Theatre: Ruddy Riding Hood

Residency May 16 – 21; Public performances May 21 at 3:00pm and 5:30pm

The Missoula Children's Theatre (MCT), the nation'southward largest touring children'southward theatre, has been touring extensively for more than 40 years now from Montana to Nippon. A tour team arrives in a given town with a set, lights, costumes, props and make-upwards, everything it takes to put on a play…except the cast.


The team holds an open up audition and casts 50-threescore local students to perform in the product. The testify is apposite throughout the week and ii public performances are presented on Saturday. All MCT shows are original adaptations of classic children's stories and fairytales . . . a twist on the classic stories that you know and love.

Described as "exceptional ambassadors for classical music" and "innovative programmers" Axiom Brass designs concert experiences for audiences that stretch the imagination and expand sensibilities. With multimedia performances and live reactive sound-to-video effects, the ensemble creates an engaging, immersive experience that ventures beyond the traditional boundaries of the concert hall. Axiom has presented concerts all over the world, including the Merkin Concert Hall in New York Metropolis, Gallo Center for the Arts in California, Shenzhen Concert Hall in China, and Museu Nacional Soares dos Reis in Portugal.

Chamberfest Cheboygan series: Escher String Quartet

June 4th at 7:30pm

The Escher String Quartet has received acclaim for its expressive, nuanced performances that combine unusual textural clarity with a rich, blended sound. A former BBC New Generation Artist, the quartet has performed at the BBC Proms at Cadogan Hall and is a regular guest at Wigmore Hall. In its domicile town of New York, the ensemble serves as Season Artists of The Sleeping accommodation Music Social club of Lincoln Center, where it has presented the consummate Zemlinsky Quartets Cycle equally well as being one of 5 quartets called to collaborate in a complete presentation of Beethoven's string quartets.

CAAC Dance Jump Recital

Young dancers from the Cheboygan Expanse Arts Council dance school, ages 5 – 17, will show off their talents in a diversity of styles: ballet, tap and hip hop. Under the direction and choreography of dance school director Brandie Ford.

Chamberfest Cheboygan series: WindSync

WindSync has established itself as a vibrant chamber ensemble performing wind quintet masterworks, adapting beloved music to their instrumentation, and championing new works by today's composers. The quintet eliminates the "fourth wall" between musicians and audience by often performing from memory, creating an intimate connection. This personal functioning manner, combined with the ensemble's three-pronged mission of artistry, education, and community-building, lends WindSync its reputation as "a group of virtuosos who are also wonderful people, too" (Alison Young, Classical MPR).

Chamberfest Cheboygan series: Imani Winds

Celebrating over two decades of music making, the GRAMMY® nominated Imani Winds has led both a revolution and evolution of the wind quintet through their dynamic playing, adventurous programming, imaginative collaborations and outreach endeavors that take inspired audiences of all ages and backgrounds.

In 2016, Imani Winds received their greatest honor in their 20 years of music making: a permanent presence in the classical music section of the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Civilization in Washington DC.

Glenn Miller Orchestra

August 15th at 7:30pm

Returning to the Cheboygan Opera House: the most popular and sought subsequently big band in the world today for both concert and swing dance engagements. With its unique jazz sound, the Glenn Miller Orchestra is considered to be one of the greatest bands of all fourth dimension. The nowadays Glenn Miller Orchestra was formed in 1956 and has been touring worldwide ever since.


The Mission of the Cheboygan Expanse Arts Council is to promote and encourage cultural and educational activities within the Straits Area of Northern Michigan, and to provide services that stimulate and encourage participation and appreciation of the arts within all segments of the community and to showcase the historic Cheboygan Opera House.

The Cheboygan Area Arts Quango is a 501c3 charity and is supported in part by the Michigan Council of Arts and Cultural Affairs as well as the National Endowment for the Arts.
